Not too long ago, we talked about a widget for the Hangouts app that displays your recent notifications directly on your home screen. Now, I want to present another enhancement to Google’s messenger—one that should be music to your ears.
The hangouts app has no option to set up the volume level for notifications, and instead uses the system notification volume level used for other notifications. This is not a perfect solution, as you can miss many messages because your notification volume is too low. Alternatively, you may want to receive other notifications but not be bothered by every incoming Hangouts chat.
XDA Forum Member KonstiDee modified an Xposed module originally created by XDA Senior Member OXINARF and adapted it to work with Hangouts. In short, this module allows you to use your ringer volume level for these notifications, so you can easily hear either, as well as make them quieter at night. To give this module a try, you need to root your phone and install the fantastic Xposed Framework by XDA Recognized Developer rovo89.
To give a shot of this module, make your way to the module thread, grab the APK, install it, and enable in the Xposed Framework installer. All changes should be visible, or rather audible, after rebooting your device.
